Finished up Judas Unchained (by Peter F. Hamilton) and it was pretty good.

I'm now reading the Keys Of The Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Nix will be speaking in Feb 21 about the final book in the series, Lord Sunday, and I've got a bit of catching up to do. So far I've inhaled Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday and I'm about to finish Drowned Wednesday. Then only four more to go before the 21st :)

I recently read Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" and I would rate it in the top five books ever. It is utterly spellbinding.

Anyone else read this?

Yep, read "In Cold Blood" ages and ages ago- thought it was very good.

The movie based on the book (the 1967 version starring Robert Blake and Scott Wilson) is well worth having a look at as well.

Just finished "The Angel's Game" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Set in Barcelona in the 1920-30's and is probably best described as a gothic thriller. The plot takes a few twists along the way and keeps you interested. Well worth reading. Same author also wrote "The Shadow of the Wind". Will try that soon.

Just started "Three Ways to Capsize a Boat" by Chris Stewart. So far an easy read, a simple story about a mad Englishman and boats ...

Alex Ferguson's book wasn't a bad read.

Now reading "The Unconquerable World: why peaceful protest is stronger than war" by Jonathan Schell.

Just read ... wait for it... Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.

It tended to repeat itself and be a bit wordy, and I skimmed over chunks, but boy am I glad I read it.

Am reading Transition by Iain Banks at the moment. About 1/4 through. Not really sure what's going on to be honest.

Just finished A Brief History of Time by Steven Hawking. Very interesting, although now Im even more ignorant. Or at least ignorant of a larger array of things I formerly thought I understood.

Currently reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Also very interesting, but has gone a bit dry, about 2/3 through.
Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?

This could be another instance of me biting off more than I can chew, but he's a major historical figure and its about time I attempted to find out some of the details:

Reading Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett 'cos the wife's taking me to see a production of it tomorrow night and frankly I'm pretty sure I wouldn't understand it if I'd not already read the script :-)

Finished Iain Banks' Transition... not really sure what happened either. A really neat idea, some interesting (and some not so interesting) characters, and ... yeah, maybe there was a plot in there that I missed?

I've been very lazy with my reading of late, haven't been able to apply myself to anything properly.

I'm still only a very little way in to the book about Churchill.....and at the moment I have got about 60 pages in to this book by Paul Davies:

Image

It's a fascinating subject, if at times about concepts which are extremely difficult to grasp (for someone who has never been any good at maths or science). The theories surrounding the mechanics of the "big bang" alone left me feeling very confused.

Hmm, there's been a few books since my last post, but I can't remember them all. One was Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi. Awesome SF again by the master.

Just finished Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood. Dark, fun SF.

Am reading The Ghost Brigades (another Scalzi) and enjoying it.

Well I finally finished that book on God and the new physics, sheeesh what a slog - he wrote about some truly fascinating subjects but the technical side of those were very confusing. Still, glad I soldiered on through to the end.

Have just started this -

Image

DeGroot says the commonly accepted view that has been projected of the 60's decade (peace. love, etc etc)is largely based on myth and subjective recollection and writes about the incidents of the 60's that have largely been ignored when the 60's are recounted. Really interesting so far.

Peace out man - ;)
