Foggy's Dilema

Postby VelvetFog on Fri Mar 12, 2010 10:07 pm

Hey All,

I've been working on a philosophy of delayed gratification for a while now. However, my favourite show 'Survivor' has not been part of that philosophy due to the fact that 9 is so piss poor about showing it on television. As it turns out I've been watching a few Suvivor Heroes vs VIllains on Youtube by this guy who posts them in HD. So I'm up to episode 4 on that.

However...seem's 9 is going to be showing it...but I don't know if I can trust them

so the question is...do I watch it on youtube or give 9 a shot or stop watching???

any help would be appreciated.

Not that it helps but I have never, ever D/L an episode of anything. Always watch it live on TV or recorded on the IQ2 thingy. For me I prefer the wait from week to week and maybe a misguided sense of they paid for it they can show it.

Although Nine's treatment of Top Gear could be the beginning of the end for me..... grrrrrrrr

Just me.

its gotta be much nicer watching it on the tv than a piddly little you tube screen and it doesnt use up your internet download quota so less chance of shaping ? *raises eyebrow*
if they published that they are gonna show it then i would have to say its gonna happen ? :)

Your post implies "will" be showing it. But it is actually on at present, watched the first ep last week some time - have not watched the last few series but started to get into this series.

Oh and +1 for watching it on the HD plasma via the HD STB rather than on the pc.

A couple of issues with watching series on TV:
- They do not always show in the order that they are meant to. Fantastic when there is a tread that runs through the show and it goes all out of kilter.
- Depending on how the days scheduling is going you may find that part of the show gets cut i.e. your show is supposed to start at 8:30 kicks off at 8:35 or so and they really want to get it finished by 9:30 to be back on schedule. They are not going to reduce the add revenue so cut a few bits out of the show and there you go.
- Start showing the series and it does not rate so it gets pulled or just moved to some stupid time and you miss a few episodes because you had no idea it was moved.

I do not happen to watch a great deal of TV and would rather buy/rent/borrow TV series and know that I am seeing as they should be shown. So getting back to you question for me it would depend on whether you think 9 will do it justice or just pull it apart, again. I do prefer watching on TV rather than the monitor but in the end it is a commercial tv station they will do what they think rates the best and will get the most ad revenue.

Or you could do what I did and get a 30m HDMI cable from your server room to your plasma ;)
Then when nine screws you as they have done with all my favorite shows you have a backup in place ;)
